The Turkish American Arts Society of New York (TAASNY) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization founded by İbrahim Yazici in 2007. Its primary mission is to promote Turkish culture in the United States through various art forms and to enhance the image of Turkey abroad. Under the leadership of İbrahim Yazici, TAASNY has become a vital resource for cultural and artistic organizations interested in exploring and preserving Turkish heritage.

President

İbrahim Yazici

Ibrahim Yazici is the President of the Turkish American Arts Society of New York (TAASNY), dedicated to promoting Turkish culture and arts in the United States. With the support of the TAASNY Creative Team, he organizes prestigious concerts, cultural events, and heritage preservation programs, showcasing Turkey’s rich traditions. As a passionate advocate for cultural exchange, Ibrahim plays a key role in preserving Turkish cultural heritage while fostering collaborations between Turkish and American artists.

Gurer Aykal

Gurer Aykal is the Founder and Principal Conductor of the New Manhattan Sinfonietta. A renowned conductor, he has led prestigious orchestras like the Turkish Presidential Symphony and El Paso Symphony Orchestra. Aykal has recorded works by major composers and founded the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. He has received numerous accolades, including the title of 'State Artist' from the Turkish Government.

Bedirhan Sezer

Bedirhan Sezer brings a rich blend of physical theater, cinematic storytelling, and cultural heritage to life. Founder of İlk Sanat Tiyatro and award-winning filmmaker, Sezer blends movement, memory, and meaning in every project. His ongoing work, Karagöz’s Journey to America, reimagines Turkish tradition for a new generation.

Kutay Manfufat

I am Kutay Manfurat, a professional with extensive experience in theater, production, and performing arts. My artistic journey began in 2012 with amateur theater, and in 2017, I moved to the United States to further my education in acting and production. I studied Acting as a major at HB Studio in New York and Columbia College Hollywood in California. Additionally, I pursued minors in Directing and Cinematography, gaining a versatile competence in performing arts and film production.

Vice President

Aysen Darcan PhD.

PhD. Ayşen Darcan is a psychotherapist with a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois. She specializes in psychodynamic therapy, offering individual and couple therapy, as well as clinical supervision. Ayşen’s therapeutic approach is inspired by storytelling, creativity, and nature. With experience at top universities like NYU and Columbia, she practices in New York and Istanbul.
